DESCRIPTION:You are cordially invited to attend a very unique fundraising event on April 12\, 2025.  The Minerva Community Charitable Fund has invited Mark Twain to come and share about his life and writings in the intimate setting of the Roxy Theater\, 114 N Market St.  Doors open at 6:00 p.m. when a selection of heavy hors d’oeuvres and desserts from local restaurants will be served with the performance starting at 7 pm.  Tickets for the event are $50 per person or $75 per couple. \nThe Largely Literary Theater Company co-founders Mark Dawidziak and Sara Showman will present Twain By Two\, a two-act collection of material by Mark Twain.  Dawidziak\, an internationally recognized Mark Twain scholar\,  has been portraying the iconic American author on stage for 46 years. Sara Showman plays pretty much everybody else in the show that features excerpts from Huckleberry Finn and Eve’s Diary. There also are selections on politics and “Curing a Cold.” \nDawidziak and Showman have taken their Twain show to such venues as the Thurber House in Columbus\, Ohio\, the Mark Twain House and Museum in Hartford\, Connecticut\, the Center for Mark Twain Studies in Elmira\, New York\, and the historic Barter Theatre in Abgindon\, Virginia. \nThe Minerva Community Charitable Fund was established in 2004 when a group of Minerva residents gathered to find a way for past\, current\, and future residents of the Minerva area to give assets that would benefit the greater good of all the Minerva community. The result of that gathering was the establishment of The Minerva Community Charitable Fund\, an Organization Endowment Fund at Stark Community Foundation. \nSince its inception\, MCCF has helped provide nearly $200\,000 to more than 20 organizations in the Minerva area. The Minerva Community Charitable Fund\, is an Organization Endowment Fund at Stark Community Foundation with assets in excess of $222\,000.

DESCRIPTION:The annual Spring Cleanup for the Village of Minerva will be Saturday\, May 10th \nPlease note the following restrictions: \nAll loose trash to be hauled must be in disposable containers and placed at the curb by 6:00 A.M. May 10th.  These containers must not exceed 50 pounds each.  Residents are reminded that the trucks must be able to access the items so if vehicles or trailers are parked in front of the items\, they will not be picked up.  Trucks will not pick up a second time\, so all items must be at the curb\, accessible\, on time. Photographs will be taken if items are not accessible or out on the curb by 6:00 am. \nPlease note that any non-resident dropping off items for pickup may be prosecuted for illegal dumping. \nThe following items CANNOT be accepted: dirt\, rocks\, construction material\, or material of that nature\, hazardous materials\, paints or chemicals\, tires\, appliances with Freon unless the Freon has been removed and tagged as such by a technician. Tree limbs and brush must be in bundles not to exceed 4 feet in length or 50 pounds in weight. Carpet must be cut down to 4 feet and rolled up with duct tape or twine. All cloth/material items such as mattresses\, chairs\, sofas\, etc. must be completely wrapped in plastic to be accepted. \nPlease call Village Hall with questions or concerns: 330-868-7705 ext 151. \n  \n

DESCRIPTION:Minerva will hold its annual Homecoming Celebration on Wednesday\, June 11 with the parade\, organized by the Minerva Firefighters Association\, kicking off the festivities at 6 pm. After the parade\, join us in Municipal Park for more fun. The midway opens at 6 pm with rides provided by Kissel Amusement Company. Wristbands are $18 or $2 single tickets with 10 tickets – $20 or 20 tickets – $30. The Community Building is open from 6-9 pm. Lionburgers will be on sale starting at 11 am on Wednesday\, located in the Lions Pavilion. At 6:45 pm\, the Minerva High School Marching Band will perform a set at the stage for all to enjoy. The Dunk Tank also makes its return this year and will be manned by the Football Alumni Association on Wednesday. The Beer Garden also returns this year\, located across the creek near the stage\, with village employees pouring on Wednesday. From 7:30-10 pm Grandma’s Favorite Grandson plays on the main stage. Kona Ice and Travelin’ Tom’s Coffee Truck will be located near the beer garden every day\, and on Wednesday Candlelight Catering will be on hand as well.

DESCRIPTION:Friday\, June 13\, at Minerva’s annual Homecoming Celebration will begin with a tug-of-war tournament\, run by the Minerva Athletic Boosters. The midway opens at 6 pm with rides provided by Kissel Amusement Company. Wristbands are $18 or $2 single tickets with 10 tickets – $20 or 20 tickets – $30. The Community Building is open from 6-9 pm. A Power Wheels Demolition Derby will take place on the basketball courts\, 7-9 p.m.\, and the Becky Flinn Band will play on the main stage\, 7-10 p.m. The Dunk Tank will be manned by the FFA on Friday\, and Minerva Chamber members will be pouring in the Beer Garden\, located across the creek near the stage. Kona Ice and Travelin’ Tom’s Coffee Truck will be located near the beer garden every day\, and on Friday Triple T’s Fresh Cooked Foods will be serving.

DESCRIPTION:June 14 @ 6:00 pm – 10:00 pm\n\n\n\nThe final evening of Minerva’s annual Homecoming Celebration on Friday\, June 14\, will feature a pickleball tournament\, getting under way at 8 a.m. The midway opens at 6 pm with rides provided by Kissel Amusement Company. Wristbands are $18 or $2 single tickets with 10 tickets – $20 or 20 tickets – $30. The Community Building is open from 6-9 pm.\, and this will be your final night to get your Lionburgers. Professional wrestling will take place\, 6-8 p.m.\, on the basketball courts\, and a cornhole tournament\, run by the MHS Football Alumni\, will happen on the other side of the creek at the same time. The Roxy Theatre Duck Race happens in the creek at 7:30 p.m.\, and Paradise: The Meatloaf Tribute Band plays on the main stage 8-10:30 p.m. Raffle winners will be announced from the stage at 10 p.m. The Dunk Tank will be manned by Minerva Chamber members on Saturday\, with proceeds going toward 2nd Friday celebrations. The Beer Garden will be manned by Minerva Athletic Boosters on Saturday. Kona Ice and Travelin’ Tom’s Coffee Truck will be located near the beer garden every day\, and on Saturday Mean Bean BBQ will be serving.

DESCRIPTION:School age children sign-up to read with our gentle Animal Reading Friends. \n  \nChildren each have their own 15 minutes to read with one of our two Golden Retriever friends.\nThe gentle dogs are accompanied by their kind owners Ray & Sharon Morgenstern. \nCall the library at 330-868-4101 and ask for Youth Services to sign up for your 15 minutes of reading to a patient\, good-natured dog. \nThursdays 11:00-12:00  June 11 – July 30.
