IMPORTANT MESSAGE from the Velvet Paw Project Executive Director:

“Over the past two years of being involved with the TNR program, the biggest obstacles to individuals not spaying & neutering, is cost & transportation.”
Beth R. | Executive Director | Velvet Paw Project

Due to the generosity of a local grant from the Minerva Community Charitable Fund & in cooperation with AlterClinic Animal Care,
I am thrilled to offer the following packages to help offset costs, for individuals within the Minerva Community starting in 2026:

$50 Spay/Neuter for Indoor Owned Cats (Covers Rabies/Transport Fee)

$25 Spay/Neuter for TNR/Community Cats (Covers TNR Package/Transport Fees)

There will be three (3) transport dates & they are also open to individuals with dogs, however there is no subsidy available for dogs.

Transport Dates:

January 13, 2026

February 17, 2026

March 3, 2026

Spaces are limited, however we need a minimum of 15 paid spots for a transport to run.
If there are funds after these transport dates, we will extend the offer until monies are exhausted.

What is a community cat?

A community cat is a general term that includes any unowned cat.
These cats may be unsocialized or friendly, both can thrive in the community.
These cats have been born outside or may be lost or an abandoned pet.
Some community cats are routinely fed by community members & consider their community their home.

What is Trap - Neuter & Return? (TNR)

Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) is a program that has been adapted worldwide.
It is a humane & effective approach in which community cats are trapped, vaccinated, sterilized & receive an identifying clip on the left ear.
They are then returned to their trap location.

What are the benefits of the TNR program?

The TNR programs help a colony’s size remain stable & over time, gradually decrease the colony’s population.
TNR addresses community concerns with growing stray populations, abandoned kittens & injured animals within their community.
Cats will be healthier & co-exist more peacefully.

How Does the AlterClinic Transport Clinic Work?

What is a transportation clinic?
AlterClinic offers transportation to our clinic for low-cost spay/neuter services to members of surrounding counties.
These community members may not be able to transport their pet to the clinic for any number of reasons.
We meet at a pre-determined location to pick up the scheduled animals & then bring them back to our clinic where they receive their surgery.
We then bring the animals back to the same location to have their owners pick them up later that same day.

How do I schedule a pet for a transportation clinic?
All scheduling must be done by calling into our clinic at (234) 804-3064.
We will take down your information and your pets information and put them on our transport list for the transportation date requested.
The week before the scheduled transport, our clinic coordinator will call to get the appointments scheduled.

What services are available during these clinics?
Transport is available for spay/neuter appointments only at this time.
While a pet is at our clinic for spay/neuter, we can perform other services such as vaccinations, microchipping, and SNAP combo testing.
We are unable to offer dental services for our transportation clients at this time.

Are there any additional fees?
In addition to the cost of surgery and services being performed, we charge a $10.00 transportation fee per pet to cover our expenses.

What time is drop-off and pick-up?
Owners will drop their pets off with us at 7:00AM on the date of transport and pick them up that same day at 5:00 pm.

Can I schedule trapped cats for transport?
Yes, we can schedule trapped cats for our transportation clinics as well.
